Procedure for Assigning Roads

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Once all preparation, covered in the previous topic, is complete Roads can be assigned to Subsequences.

As covered in Setting up Haul Roads and Accesses, 3d-DigPlus has methods of modelling Roads:

Roads on Terrain. This is the most common method of Road modelling, Roads are fully defined by Horizontal and Vertical alignments.

Virtual Roads. This method uses various parameters to automatically generate a representative three-dimensional road to connect known starting and destination points.

Using these two methods of modelling Roads creates three methods of assigning roads:

Roads on Terrain. With this method all roads except Manifolds are modelled as Roads on Terrain, that is Excavation Access, Main Haul Route and Dump Access.

Hybrid Road System. This method uses a combination of Road on Terrain for the Main Haul Route, and Virtual Road for either or both of Excavation Access and Dump Access.

Full Virtual Road.

The Complete Haul Route, which consists of Excavation Access, Main Haul Road and Dump Access can consist of all Roads on Terrain or a hybrid of some Roads on Terrain and some Virtual Roads.

The procedure for assigning Roads for each of these Road modelling methods is described separately in the following topics.
