In the Automated Excavation and Dump Sequencing topic the process of linking of Excavation Subsequences and Dumps was described. This process allows the simulation of waste stripping and dumping in a manner consistent with a schedule. The Setting up Haul Roads and Accesses topic described the process of creating the road system to link excavation point to dump point. The final stage of setting up a simulation is to assign roads and equipment to subsequences in order to fully simulate the load haul and dump processes.
As in the linking of Excavation and Dump sites, the design of Subsequences is central to the assignment of Roads and equipment. Subsequences consist of a set of excavation blocks with the following common characteristics:
•Dumps to which excavated material reports (this can be a hierarchy of several dumps).
•Road system via which material is hauled. Different dumps in the hierarchy can have different haul routes, but these must be common to all blocks in the Subsequence.
•Rules determining the equipment fleet used.
Following the methods described in previous topics, the following elements must be set up prior to commencing simulation:
•Excavation Supersequeces to excavate material in a desired order.
•Staged dumps to build spoil dumps.
•Linking of Excavation Subsequences to dumps to allow automated excavation and dumping.
•Design of Haul Route elements.
•Creation of new equipment types (Excavators and Trucks).
Two tasks remain to fully set up simulation:
•Setting up a new simulation
•Assign Roads to Subsequences and Dumps.
•Assign equipment to Subsequences.
•Setting up simulation parameters and running simulation
The following topics explained these steps.
