Background and Overview

Calculation of productivity for each block requires an accurate model of the particular haul route required to link the current excavation block to the current dump location.

A haul route is a three-dimensional path along which trucks travel during simulation. For each increment of the simulation (excavation and dump) a haul route is required which connects the excavation point and the dump point. Haul routes are constructed in 3d-DigPlus is an assemblage of Roads. A complete haul route consists of the following Road components:

Main Haul Road. Main Haul Roads are the permanent or semi permanent roads along which trucks travel having exited the strip and en route to the dump. Main Haul Roads can  exist on the topography adjacent to pit area, on the pit floor, on cross pit bridges, end walls etc. Main Haul Roads usually model actual roads and as such are generally modelled in 3d-DigPlus to follow the full extents of the road in the pit. Typically trucks use only portion of the main haul routes, entering at a point near the excavation site and departing near the dump. Similarly main haul routes in 3d-DigPlus use only that portion of the designed road that is required for a particular truck cycle. A 3d-DigPlus file can have any number of Main All Routes, each with a unique name.

Excavation Access roads. The Excavation Access roads (or Excavation Accesses)  model the ramp from the Main Haul Route down to the level of the current excavation lift. Excavation Accesses are dynamic, as the excavation progresses down in lifts and the ramp length increases so the Excavation Access length increases to model the required ramp length for a particular lift.

Excavation Manifold. The Excavation Manifold is automatically generated road that connects current toe (base) of the Excavation Access to the current point of excavation.

Dump Access roads. The Dump Access roads (or Dump Accesses) modelled the ramp from the Main All Route up to the level of the current dump lift. Dump Accesses are dynamic, as the dump progresses up in lifts and the ramp linked required increases, so the Dump Access length increases to model the required ramp length for a particular dump lift.

Dump Manifold. The Dump Manifold is an automatically generate road that connects the current crest (top) of the Dump Access to the current dump point on the tip face.

For each individual Excavation Block and Dump Point 3d-DigPlus uses the nominated Road components to produce the haul route which is used to determine Truck cycle time. This haul route is referred to as the Complete Haul Route.
