Difference Surface
This dialog box controls creation of a difference surface between two nominated surfaces (known as the First Surface and Second Surface). The difference surface creation is based on a grid created to user specifications. At each grid point, the height on the First Surface and the height on the Second Surface are determined by interpolation using the respective surface models. The Second Surface height is subtracted from the First Surface height to produce the difference height.
At each calculated grid point, a difference surface grid point is created with the calculated difference height. In this manner, the difference surface is first created as a grid model. As first created it has no data points or triangulation. However, a triangulation plus data points may optionally be created from this grid.
Surface Name
This allows users to specify a name for the Difference Surface. The default name is “Difference Surface”.
1st Surface
This pull-down list contains all existing surfaces. It allows selection of any surface from the list as the First Surface.
2nd Surface
This pull-down list contains all existing surfaces. It allows selection of any surface from the list as the Second Surface.
1st Surface Based on
This setting chooses the surface model (grid or triangulation) used to calculate height on First Surface.
2nd Surface Based on
This setting chooses the surface model (grid or triangulation) used to calculate height on Second Surface.
Grid Step
This defines the distance between grid points for the difference surface.
Create Triangulation and data
Check this to create triangulated model and data for the difference surface. Otherwise only a grid model will be created.
