The following tutorial exercises and associated files are a comprehensive suite of lessons which cover all of the 3d-DigPlus modules.

Organisation of tutorial exercises

The tutorial exercises are organised in groups according to the 3d-DigPlus Modules. These exercises commence with basic design file set up and procedures, and progress to the more advanced 3d-DigPlus functionality. The major tutorial topics and dependencies are as follows:

Generic and Topographic Simulation Tutorials. These tutorials cover the basic 3d-DigPlus system. For new users the material in these tutorials is essential knowledge that must be acquired before subsequent tutorials are attempted.

Single Step Dragline Simulation. These tutorials cover the Single Step Dragline Simulation module. The Generic and Topographic Simulation tutorials must be completed before embarking on the Single Step Dragline Simulation tutorial.

Automated Excavation & Dump tutorials. These exercises cover setting up and running the setting up and running of an automated excavation and dump sequence. The Generic and Topographic Simulation tutorials must be completed before embarking on the Automated Excavation & Dump tutorials.

Truck and Shovel Simulation tutorials. These tutorial exercises cover the process of adding Truck and Shovel Simulation to an Automated Excavation and Dump sequence. Consequently a knowledge of the Automated Excavation and Dump procedures is essential before embarking on these exercises.

Bulldozer Simulation. There are two Bulldozer Simulation tutorials covering the Bulldozer module. A knowledge of the Generic and Topographic Simulation procedures in 3d-DigPlus are essential before embarking on this tutorial exercise.

Automated Dragline Simulation. This module is due for release shortly. It utilises the basic structures of Automated Excavation & Dump Simulation and consequently a knowledge of these topics is essential before embarking on the Automated Dragline Simulation tutorial.

Surface Reshaping and Transport Analaysis. These tutorials cover reshaping of perimeter spoil and internal dragline spoil.

Format of tutorial exercises

Each tutorial exercise is in a sub topic located under the major (module) topic. Where appropriate the exercise starts with some introductory text and diagrams that give the background of the material to be covered. The exercises are presented as a video clip. The video describes each step in turn and the user must pause the video to complete the necessary steps. Most videos contain suggested pause points. The pause points are indicated by a pause point button which appears in the bottom right hand corner of the video window. These pause points are preceded by an audible tone. If your computer system allows Adobe Flash content the videos should pause automatically at these pause points. However if this does not occur you need to manually pause when you hear the audible tone and see the pause point.
