Section Settings

These settings control the appearance of the current (currently active) section window. Section windows show cross-sections of the terrain surface or any existing inner surfaces.

A new section is drawn on the terrain or inner surface, using the Utilities | New Section menu command or corresponding toolbar button.

Once one or more sections have been created, section window showing these cross-sections can be opened via this dialog box.

Surface Name

This pull-down list allows selection of a surface on which cross-sections exist. The currently selected surface name is shown in the display field of the pull-down list.

Section

This pull-down list contains all the sections existing for the currently chosen surface. All the parameters set in this dialog box will be applied to the cross-section selected in the Section pull-down list.

Close Button

This button closes the Section Settings dialog box.

Apply Button

This button applies parameters set in the dialog box to the current section window, if such a window exists. If there is no current section window, the Apply button will be disabled. If the Apply button is active and another section is selected via the Section pull-down list, the Apply button will be disabled.

New Window Button

This button opens a new section window for the currently selected cross-section. All the parameters set in the Section Settings dialog box will be applied to this window.

General Page

This page contains settings controlling the scaling and appearance of the cross-section line.

Section Name

This sets the name of the cross-section plot. This name will be shown in the section window to help identify the current cross-section.

Height Range Selection

This setting controls the way in which height interval for the cross-section will be selected.

There are two options:

Automatic: height scale will be defined automatically between minimum and maximum heights of the cross-section to get even numbers on the height axis.

Manual; user can define minimum and maximum heights of the height scale.

Minimum Height

This parameter can only be changed if manual height range scaling is selected. It sets the minimum height of the height scale.

Maximum Height

This parameter can only be changed if manual height range scaling is selected. It sets the maximum height of the height scale.

Height Scaling

This setting defines how the height scale fits in the section window. There are two ways:

Fit to window: the height scale will occupy all the vertical space available in the window.

Proportional: the height scale will be proportional to the distance scale.

Surface Section Based on

This setting chooses the surface model (grid or triangulation) used to calculate the cross-section heights.

Section Line Width

This parameter specifies the pixel width of the section line.

Section Line Color

This parameter sets the color in which the section line will be displayed in the section window.

Background Color

Click this button to choose color for the background of the section window.

Inner Surfaces Page

The parameters contained in this page control the display and appearance of inner surfaces on the cross-section plot.

Show Inner Surface Traces

Check this to show traces of inner surfaces in the cross-section plot.

Clip to Section Surface

When selected, this option causes clipping of the inner surface traces. Only the traces below the section line will be shown in the section window.

Show Inner Surface Names

Check this to show an inner surface legend in a floating window on the cross-section plot.

Number Surfaces

Selection of this setting numbers the inner surfaces shown in the cross-section window.

Inner Trace Width

This parameter controls the pixel width of the inner surface trace lines.

Inner Surface Section Based on

This setting chooses the surface model (grid or triangulation) used to calculate the inner surface trace heights.

Layers Page

The parameters on this page control the display and appearance of layers in the cross-section plot.

Show Layers

Check this to show layers in the section window.

Clip to Section Surface

When selected, this option causes layers to be clipped. Only the parts of layers below the section line will be shown in the section window.

Show Layer Names

Check this to show layer names in a floating window on the cross-section plot.

Number Layers

Selection of this setting causes numbering of the layers shown in the cross-section window.

Axes Page

This page contains the settings controlling the appearance of the axes in the cross-section plot.

Axes Width

This defines the pixel width of the axes.

Axes Color

Click this to choose a color for the axes.

Show Minors

Checking this option displays minor (not labelled) ticks on the axes.

Show Grid

Check this to show a grid on the cross-section plot. The grid lines will be placed at the values of the axes tick marks.

Grid Settings

Grid lines will be placed at the values of the axes tick marks. The following settings define the grid appearance.

Width

This specifies the pixel width of the grid lines. (Grid lines will be placed at the values of the axes tick marks.)

Color

This setting chooses the color of the grid lines. (Grid lines will be placed at the values of the axes tick marks.)
