Generic & Topographic Simulation

3d-DigPlus incorporates many types of simulation. These are contained in software modules which are registered with the Hasp key. Depending on what modules have been purchased various simulation options will be available. Simulation modes are selected via the Simulation Mode pulldown list on the main toolbar:

This section covers functionality in the Free mode.

The functionality contained within the 3d-DigPlus Generic and Topographic Simulation modules allows the following tasks to be performed:

Manual excavation. Excavation of mining operations can be modelled in a manner that is constrained to pit design parameters benches coal seams etc. Mining pit of pit or strip can be excavated in its entirety, or it can be excavated progressively in a similar manner the progress of the equipment fleet.

Manual dumping. Excavated material can be dumped onto the topography in a manner that models the repose angle dumping of mining equipment. Dumps can be set up in a manner to model the dumping of draglines, trucks, dozes and other mining equipment. The full volume of waste for a pit or strip can be dumped in one operation, all material acquired by progressive excavation can be dumped progressively.

Material Logging. Material processed by the excavation and dumping simulation is logged in a database structure called the Material Log.

Equipment placement and animation. Models of most standard pieces of mining equipment can be created and placed on the topography. Screen captured facilities allow images to be routinely captured throughout the manual simulation and built into an animation on completion.

Linked Simulation. Linked is the most basic form of Simulation in 3d-DigPlus. In Linked Simulation and excavation and dump are linked in a manner where the excavation is performed in a series of steps, and after each step the material automatically reports to the assigned dump.

 

The following topics cover these processes. Note that the automated excavation and dumping processes, described elsewhere in this documentation, are built on the basic principles covered in these topics, hence an understanding of these topics is a prerequisite for the automated process topics.
