This tutorial involves setting up a dragline bench for a single pass operation. The figure below shows the pit:

As the pit is normally dipping the deepest part of the excavation will be along the highwall toe. Consequently the highwall toe Surface Feature, as shown in the figure above, will be the maximum pit depth line. The pit has been subject to a cast blast with some slump along the highwall. However as the dragline will be required to scale the highwall it must be able to reach the highwall crest and consequently the highwall crest Surface Feature will be used as the Reach Limit Feature.

The Dragline Parameters are:

Max Dig Depth: 42m

Dump Radius: 87m

Stand Off 3m

Min Bench Width: 45m

Max Bench Width 60m

Bench Face Angle 37 deg.
