Modelling Multiple Strips

Setting up Staged Excavations for multiple strips.

The process of creating a Staged Excavation involves the creation of a Raw Sequence. During the creation of the Raw Sequence 3d-DigPlus temporarily excavates the Staged Excavation. When creating Stage Excavations for multiple sequential strips, Staged Excavation is created for each strip in the sequence. When creating the Staged Excavation for strip "N" it is most convenient if the pit is in the starting state for this strip. That is strip "N -1" has been excavated. To achieve this, once we have created the Staged Excavation for a particular strip we excavate this strip prior to creating the Staged Excavation for the next strip.

However this means that when we have completed creating the Staged Excavations the pit will have been largely excavated.

Before commencing with the process of creating the Staged Excavations we create a Terrain Restore Point. This Terrain Restore Point allows us to restore the pit to its starting state once the setup process is complete.

In order to excavate each strip in this manner, we have to create and run a Excavation Supersequence. We can generally reuse this Supersequence when we are setting up the Supersequence for the multiple strip option.

The procedure for creating a set of Staged Excavations for multiple sequential strips is:

1.Set Terrain Restore Point prior to doing any work.

2.Create the Staged Excavation for the first strip (strip n)

3.Create an Excavation Supersequence for strip n.

4.Run the strip n Supersequence to excavate the strip.

5.Repeat this process for all strips which require a Staged Excavation.

6.On completion run the Terrain Restore Point to restore the terrain and material logs to the starting state.
